- This is a photograph of some white fir trees in Stanislaus National Forest, California. White fir (Abies concolor) near Mill Creek on the Dardanelles road, Stanislaus Nat. Forest, Calif. This is supposed to be a White fir - aspen (Populus tremuloides) type, but I am not sure that I can identify with certainty any aspen tree in the photo. The small white trunk in background visible just to left of the white fir trunk in right foreground might be aspen, but the trunks of young white firs are often pretty white This white trunk is also too straight for aspen."
