Title:
Wolf Tales Recording with Xiaoqian Liu: FLE400, 23 October 2018
Description:
This recording was conducted as part of FLE 400: American English pronunciation for International Students with Professor Mary Michaels Estrada in October 2018, in the D.H. Hill Jr. Library. Coming from Habei, China, Xiaoqian Liu talks about her very first experiences in Raleigh, as an NCSU professor picked her up from the airport and prepared her breakfast the day she arrived. Pursuing a Ph.D. in Statistics, Liu talks about the rigor of academics at NCSU, in both the volume of work as well as the content, and the adjustment to life at an American university. She also speaks to the challenges of infrastructure to an international student, as someone who relies on public transportation and is unfamiliar with the American preference for cars.
