William Claxton Thomas
William Claxton Thomas was the twenty-fifth vice president of the NC State Student Government. He graduated in March 1946, leaving the position vacant until Mechanical Engineering senior John R. Fessenden was chosen to fill the remaining period of his term. Thomas was active in several groups on campus, including the Baptist Student Union Council and the R.O.T.C. program.

Student Government Vice President, 1945-1946
Thomas was chairman of the Campus Welfare Committee. The committee investigated and reported on ways to better student housing, health, and social life, while promoting academic reform.
During Thomas’s tenure, the Student Government revived “Dad’s Day,” an event celebrating NC State students and their fathers. The event, held on October 20, 1945, included tours of campus, the NC State-Wake football game, and lunch.
