Paul H. Lehman, Jr.
Paul Lehman, a Winston-Salem native, served as Student Council president between 1940 and 1941. Lehman was the first president to serve a full term under the newly reorganized Student Council. In addition to his participation in student government, Lehman was also a member of the Redcoat Band and the Order of the Rail, an exclusive student organization. According to the Technician, the Order of the Rail "was formed for the benefit of the group of students who do a great part of their extracurricular activities in the vicinity of the railing in front of the College Court Drug Store." Although Lehman was involved in many campus organizations, he maintained a positive academic standing, as evidenced by his inclusion in "Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."
Paul Lehman graduated from NC State in 1941 with a degree in chemical engineering.

Student Body President, 1940-1941
Under Paul Lehman’s leadership, the Student Legislature passed a “cut bill” which revised the cut system and allowed juniors and seniors 10 absences per term. Bill Friday, future president of the University of North Carolina system and president of the class of 1941, sponsored the bill. Faculty Council approved the bill; the Technician printed a special one-page issue to announce the bill’s approval.
