Mike Pidd, Ph.D.

Michael Pidd is an Emeritus Professor of Management Science in the Management School at Lancaster University, where he has taught for over thirty years. He earned his undergraduate degree at Brunel University in production engineering (now referred to as industrial engineering) and his Masters Degree in operations research in Birmingham University. He earned his Ph.D. at Lancaster University. During his career at Lancaster he served as Head of the Department of Management Science and Research Dean in the Management School. He was also the President of the Operational Research Society and a Fellow of the British Academy of Management as well as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. His research interests include complementarity in systems modelling; high performance computers and computer simulation; use of soft OR methods in policy making; modelling to improve performance measurement in public services; and improvement in public services, especially healthcare.
