Brown, Marvin Luther

Biographical Note:
Marvin L. Brown, Jr. earned his B.A. from Haverford College and both his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Brown taught for both of his graduate alma maters prior to coming to NC State as a history instructor in 1949. Over the next decade, Brown climbed his way up the academic ladder, eventually earning the title of Professor of History at NCSU in 1959. During his career, Brown held a Fulbright Research Professorship, authored numerous historical texts, founded and edited the Journal of the Society for French Historical Studies all while belonging to various professional organizations.
