- Biographical Note:
- Professor and Head of the Nutrition program of the Department of Animal Science from 1942-1950, Head of the Chemistry Department from 1950-1956, and Dean of the Graduate School from 1956-1974. He was named William Neals Reynolds Professor of Chemistry in 1954, received the Centennial Award in 1955 for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of science and education, and was a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was listed in American Men of Science, Who’s Who in Chemistry, Who’s Who in the South, and Who’s Who Among Young Men of America. He received his doctorate from the University of Iowa in Organic Chemistry.
