- Poultry science Professor, Dr. Harvey Bumgardner was the Director of NCSU’s Peru Contract, a program aimed at upgrading agriculture in Peru. He first came to NC State in 1955 as an Assistant Professor of Poultry Science. During the summer of 1958, Bumgardner was chosen as Raleigh’s Community Ambassador to Poland as part of an exchange program called Experiment in International Living.
