- Biographical Note:
- Dr. Patrick Hill McDonald, Jr. graduated from North Carolina State College in 1947 with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 1953, after teaching for two years at Clemson University, he earned his Ph.D. from Northwestern University. He eventually returned to N. C. State as a faculty member in the engineering department, serving as the department head in the 1960s and 70s and publishing two books on engineering and mechanics.
