- Biographical Note:
- The N. C. Cotton Promotion Association was originally known as the North Carolina Cotton Improvement Committee. It was established in the early 50's under the leadership of D.S. Weaver, the Dean of North Carolina State College of Agriculture. He appointed J.A. Shanklin to help the organization achieve its goal of redeveloping cotton production in North Carolina. The organization officially registered with the Secretary of State in 1958 as the North Carolina Cotton Promotion Association, Inc.
