Schenck, Carl Alwin, 1868-1955

Biographical Note:
Schenck completed his Ph.D in 1895. He was hired as the Biltmore Estates forester for Geoge W. Vanderbilt. In 1898 he founded the Biltmore Forest School, the first forestry school in the United States. In 1909, after a falling out with Vanderbilt, Schenck left his position at Biltmore taking the school with him until 1913.
