- Ted Brown became the first African-American named an All-American in football in 1978. In 2012 he was inducted into the NC State Athletics Hall of Fame. N.C. State Football, Running Back, 1975-1978; All-American 1978; Minnesota Vikings, 1979-1986; North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame Inductee, 1995.
