- Biographical Note:
- Atkins is chairman and CEO of the firm O'Brien/Atkins Associates. A native of Durham, NC, he graduated from the School of Design (later College of Design) at North Carolina State University in 1965. While a student, he served as student body president (1964-1965). O'Brien/Atkins has won over 60 design awards including the American Institute of Architects-North Carolina Firm of the Year award.
