Biographical Note:
Edwin Gilbert Thurlow received his Bachelor’s degree from NCSU in 1932 before going to Harvard University where he received a Master’s degree in landscape architecture. In 1947, Thurlow, a Professor of Landscape Architecture since 1941, joined other faculty members to organize NCSC’s School of Design. Thulow stayed with the University as a teacher and administrator until his retirement in 1974. The Department of Landscape Architecture established the Gil Thurlow Scholarship Fund in 1991.
