Rigney, J. A. (Jackson Ashcraft), 1913-1998

Biographical Note:
Born in 1913 in LaMesa, New Mexico, Jackson Rigney graduated from New Mexico A & M College with a B.S. in 1934, and from Iowa State College with an M.S. in 1936. He came to North Carolina State College in 1938 as an assistant professor in Agronomy. Rigney was appointed head of the Department of Experimental Statistics in 1949, Director of NC State's agricultural mission to Peru in 1956, and Dean for International Programs in 1968. Rigney assumed the interim chancellorship in July 1975, and served until the end of that year. Rigney retired in 1981 as the Assistant to the Chancellor for International Programs. Jackson Rigney died in 1998 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
