Porter, Joseph Alexander, Jr., 1912-1993

Biographical Note:
Porter received his B.S. and M.S. in Textiles from N.C. State College. From 1940-1941 he was Instructor, from 1941-1946 he was Assistant Professor (on military leave from 1942-1945), and Associate Professor from 1946-1962. During this time he worked for the U.S. federal government, USRO, Paris from 1952-1954. Porter was appointed Professor of Textiles in 1962. He received the American Association of Textiles Technologists' Outstanding Service Award in 1972 and at the 1978 National Convention, he received the NCSU Student Chapter Service Award.
