Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. Johnson, E. Sigurd, -1961

Biographical Note:
Johnson joined the State College faculty in 1949 as Professor and Head of the Furniture Manufacturing and Management Center in the Department of Industrial Engineering. Johnson, who was internationaly known for his work in wood technology, patented a process for making particleboard. In 1961, Dr. Johnson was killed when the plane he was piloting crashed near Tuxedo, N.C..
