Hyatt, George, Jr., 1915-1994

Biographical Note:
George Hyatt received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. He became Director of the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service in 1963, after working as a Specialist in charge of Extension Dairy Work, Head of the Department of Animal Science in 1958, and Associate Director of the Agricultural Extension Service in 1961. He was made Associate Dean in 1973. He was Director of the National 4-H Council, Chairman of the N.C. Rural Development Committee and a former Chairman of the National Extension Committee on Organization and Policy. Hyatt was named Man of the Year by "Progressive Farmer" in 1965. In 1976 Hyatt received the Distinguished Service Ruby of Epsilon Sigma Phi. He retired in 1978.
