- Biographical Note:
- Hassler received his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee and was appointed to NC State College in 1953 as Instructor of Zoology. He was promoted to Assistant Professor of Zoology in 1955, and Associate Professor in 1959. He received an Outstanding Teacher Award from the Agronomy Club at NC State and was instrumental in development of the Marine Research Station at Hatteras, N.C.
