- Biographical Note:
- Hilbert A. Fisher graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1915. Fisher joined the faculty at N.C. State in 1920 and received his Master of Science degree from the University in 1927. In 1940, Fisher became Head of the Department of Mathematics, a position he held until his retirement in 1957. While with N.C. State, Fisher also took on other responsibilities with the University such as chairing the Athletics Committee and Athletic Council.
