Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. Some materials will not be available for reproduction requests. Please contact us!

Dean, Donald Lee, 1926-

Biographical Note:
Donald L. Dean received his B.S.C.E. and M.S.C.E. from Missouri School of Mines and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1955. He was appointed Head of the Civil Engineering Department at NCSU in 1965. In 1967 he received the Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize from the American Society of Civil Engineers for his research in the use of discreet field mechanics in determining the behavior of complex structural systems. Dean left NCSU in 1978 to become Dean of the Armour College of Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology.
