- Stonewall Jackson Training School represents the largest project undertaken by architect Louis Asbury (of Charlotte). Asbury, originally hired to design the school's first cottages, worked with the school for over 20 years.
- Architectural note:
- The campus, consisting of more than 30 school and farm structures, primarily represent the red-brick Colonial Revival style.
- Historical note:
- The school was founded in 1907 as the first juvenile corrections facility in North Carolina and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
