- The house was built for the Smiths. Charles Smith was president and manager of the nearby Blake Drugstore.
- Architectural note:
- The house is an example of Spanish Colonial Revival style architecture, a rarity in Charlotte. The one-story T-shaped structure features a stuccoed exterior meant to resemble adobe and red-brick lined window frames.
