- 1. Gates County, Late 1960s: One of many mattress covering workshops "Better Bedding Program". 2. Gates County, 1970: Observance of 50th anniversary of state organization. 3. Gates County, 1970: Miss Nita Orr, Extension Freezing specialist giving a special program on freezing to Gates County Extension Homemakers. 4. 1977 - Gates County: Club "Mothers of the Year". 5. Gates County, 1947: Winning the attendance cup at County Achievement program was important to club - These are East Corapeake members posing with cup they have just won. 6. Gates County, 1940-42: Club families actively involved in WPA mattress program. 921 mattresses were made. 7. 1978 - Gates County: Club Mothers of the year 8. Gates County, 1976: "Mother of Year" Mrs. Hercules Byrum donating book on "American Mothers" to County library. 9. Gates County, late 1960's - early 1970's: Much upholstery work was done. 10. Gates County, late 60's - early 70's: Many upholstering workshops were held. (Teachers through Technical Institutes). Some homemakers now reupholster for extra income. 11. Gates County, 1958: Miss Pauline Gordon conducting a picture frame refinishing workshop. 12. Gates County, 1979: Council Exhibit at peanut trade show, Ahoskie, NC. 13. Gates County, 1939: Canned goods were displayed at annual achievement programs. "Outstanding" club in County received a pressure canner. 14. Gates County, 1939: Middle [Swamps Club] (1st club organized by Miss Hamrick in October 1935). 15. Mrs. S.E. Caroon (Currituck Co.) and Mrs. Frank Barnes, Gates Co. at NC State Fair booth. 16. Gates County: Exhibits of Albemarle area conserved products assoc., 1970. Mrs. J.H. Brescae and Mrs. A.J. Boone of Gates County - Albemarle Craftsman's Fair, Elizabeth City. 17. Gates County, 1978 "Clean-Up" Campaign: Sampton landfill opened 2 Saturdays - Other Civic Organizations involved to participate - Large items were removed for those regulating this service. Hundreds of bags of trash were removed from roadsides. 18. Gates County, 1960 Craftsman's Fair: Mrs. Clinton framed and Mrs. Elton Byron demonstrated copper tooling.

Expanded Extending Extension: This LSTA-grant funded digitization project includes reports, pamphlets, photographs, and other archival materials related to agricultural extension and its impact on the 20th century agricultural economy. The project is an expansion of "Extending NC Cooperative Extension Digital History."
