Description:
Transcribed from caption by Maidred Morris: Although Mrs. W.A. Sharpe [..] will be 90 years old Nov. 24, she still enjoys reading. [...] Agnes Watts, home economics agent in Alexander County, says Mrs. Sharpe is a charter member of the Home Demonstration Club. She still gets to some of the meetings occasionally. Mrs. Sharpe makes a special effort to get to the Town and Farm Picnic which is held annually. [...] She says that she has enjoyed reading all her life. She read a lot to her nine children of which six are living. Mrs. Sharpe, who has a keen mind, enjoys visits from her friends and keeps up with the local news through the weekly paper in Alexander County. She doesn't intend to sit idly by but rather enjoys becoming associated with people through the books she reads.
