- Transcribed from back: No. 2--From the bag strapped to her shoulders, the picker dumps the fresh fruit into crates placed along the road. The orchard is a mile long. A truck will come along quickly, pick up the peaches, leave empty crates. All picking is done by hand. The identify a ripe and pickable peach, the picker must examine not only color but the shape. The unripe peach is compact, clings roundly to the pit.
