Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. 41st. National 4-H Club Congress -- Twelve national 4-H Club tractor winners gather round Miss Donna Anne Ratclift, Halifax, Va., 4-H tractor queen and James L. Stollard, supervisor, Youth and Educational Activities, American Oil Company. The tractor winners, left to right are: Ronald Diedrichs, 17, Brighton, Colo.; Robert Laseter, 17, Stone Mountain, Ga.; LeRoy Zeiner, 20, Fillmore, Ind.; Robert Taylor, Jr., 19, Spencer, Mass.; Dwight Schmidt, 18, Monroe, Mich.; Bill Hawks, 18, Hernando, Miss.; Dale Johnson, 16, Carlsbad, N. Mex.; Jerry Mickelson, 18, Newfield, N.Y.; Paul Gallimore Jr., 19, Lexington, N.C.; Chuck Robinette, 17, Douglas, Okla.; George Merritt, 18, Decherd, Tenn.; and Larry Swisher, 17, Lost Creek, W. Va. Each of the winners received a $400 college scholarship and an expense-paid trip to the National 4-H Club Congress. Scholarships for Diedrichs, Zeiner and Schmidt were given by Standard Oil Foundation, Inc. (Chicago). Awards for Laseter, Taylor, Hawks, Mickelson, Gallimore, Merritt and Swisher were given by American Oil Foundation. Those for Johnson and Robinette were provided by Humble Oil & Refining Company. The national 4-H tractor program is conducted by the Cooperative Extension Service and is arranged by the National 4-H Service Committee.
