Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. This is a photograph of the Biltmore Forest School students and their private Pullman car near Portland, Oregon. The Biltmore Foresters, at the end of their first transcontinental tour starting from Cadillac Mich., arrive in their special presidential train in the logging operations of the Chapman Timber Co. at Seaboose near Portland Oregon. Here they inspect western logging for the first time. (August 1911)"
