- This is a photograph of two unidentified men standing next to a red birch tree. The tree is in the process of being cut down. [This image, and the next eleven images, are a series of postcards. The backs of the postcards contain continuous sections of a letter to Dr. Carl Schenck from Paul V. Rowlands. The letter is dated April 13, 1915. The images themselves are undated.] Dear Dr I am send you a few post cards of our logging camps here in Upper Michigan we have had one grand winter for logging in fact we put in about twelve million feet of logs with a crew of one hundred & sixty men & eighteen teams. we have used teams"
