Jelena Vukomanovic discusses her experiences as Assistant Professor of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and Geospatial Analytics in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management in the College of Natural Resources; her interest in land use change related to development and the impact of that development on ecosystem services; founding and leading the Women in Science discussion group in the College of Natural Resources; the value of having a network of women faculty; and the need for childcare services, mandatory gender bias and sexual harassment training for graduate students and faculty, and discussions about differential service loads between men and women faculty to promote gender equity.
