Title:
Wolf Tales Recording with Ayla Toussaint and Meredith Campbell: Museum Studies Fall 2018 Class Exhibit Opening, 11 December 2018
Description:
This recording was conducted for the opening of the class exhibit for HI 591: Museum Studies with Dr. David Zonderman, in December 2018. For this year’s exhibit, Ayla Toussaint’s “Krispy Kreme: A Sweet N.C. Story” was chosen by her classmates. A student at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s School of Information and Library Sciences, Toussaint is pursuing her master’s degree in Library Science with a concentration in Archives and Records Management. Fellow UNC MLS student, Meredith Campbell, works as a graduate assistant in the Special Collections Research Center at N.C. State. After Toussaint's proposal was selected, she was in charge of leading class and organizing students into committees to execute the exhibition. Toussaint describes the most significant challenge was felt by the artifacts committee, which had difficulties acquiring non-perishable objects for display. Both discuss what they discovered about the history of Krispy Kreme and N.C. State, most notably the Krispy Kreme Challenge and the origins of the dough recipe. Wolf Tales: Capturing Voices of the Pack: As part of the NC State University Libraries Special Collections Research Center, the Wolf Tales project collects the stories of the NC State community, past and present. NC State community members are invited to share memories of the events, people, and places that shaped their time at NC State. Stories are preserved and shared with current and future generations, to tell the history of NC State University through the voices of the people who lived it. Wolf Tales recordings and transcripts will be archived at NC State University Libraries and shared online through our Special Collections website.
