Title:
Wolf Tales Recording with Toni Harris Thorpe: Black Bodies Exhibit, 11 February 2019
Description:
This recording was conducted as part of the Women's Center's “Politicalization and Sexualization of Black Bodies” exhibit, February 2019 in Witherspoon Student Center. Toni Harris Thorpe shares her vision of a liberation narrative for all people. She discusses her time working with students as the Former Program Coordinator for the NC State African American Cultural Center from 2001-2016. She expresses her hope for a brighter future where the term “resources” is not used but “resourcing” is and where her two grandsons can "grow up in a world where they can joyfully own themselves." She talks about the importance of being rooted in love and positive energy. She mentions that after viewing the exhibit, she sees a need for people’s stories to have an attentive audience, and hopes that the takeaway from the exhibit is that there is a breakdown in relationships in society and a need for greater unity.
