- This recording was conducted in the African American Cultural Center Gallery in the Witherspoon Student Center on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the opening reception of the "Politics of Black Hair" exhibit, curated by Angela Gay of the NCSU Women’s Center. Kristen Riddick (doctoral candidate in Applied Social and Community Psychology), Whitney W. McCoy (doctoral candidate in Educational Psychology), and Teresa McDonald (doctoral student in Adult and Community College Education) discuss McDonald’s experience with African American hair as a young woman, different approaches and challenges involved in embracing natural texture, and hair as a personal choice.
