This recording was conducted in the StateView Hotel on Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the Caldwell Fellows 50th Anniversary Gala. John Pasour, Betsy Lambert West, and Robert T. Collins discuss their experiences participating in the first class of Caldwell Fellows - then known as Richardson Fellows, graduating in the Class of 1972. The trio discuss the impact of the program in their lives, and how it provided an exposure to different perspectives; including taking their first-ever airplane trip, and first trips to large metropolitan cities. The group reminisce on their long-standing friendships; and the mentorship of Dr. Banks C. Talley and Gerald Hawkins. The group also discuss the impact of the early planning of the program, including iterations of testing, leadership seminars, and psychological testing. Leadership skills, independence, internships, and social responsibility are examined as products of the program, and the trio give encouragement to new Caldwell Fellows.
