- Title:
- Wolf Tales Recording with Khadija Parker: Black Bodies Exhibit, 11 February 2019
- Description:
- This recording was conducted as part of the Women's Center's “Politicalization and Sexualization of Black Bodies” exhibit, February 2019 in Witherspoon Student Center. Khadija Parker's drawings and personal narrative were included in the exhibit. Parker says she felt privileged to be a part of this exhibit because it provided her and the other contributors an opportunity to tell the story of their own experience, contrary to the typical narrative that the media presents. She thinks it is important to challenge both the narratives that the media portrays about black female bodies and the narratives that people tell themselves. Parker notes that there is tremendous variation in how people of color experience violence and stereotyping of their bodies. She says that she would like to see the world as a place in which she can thrive as herself, and she wants her time at N.C. State to propel her into a bright future.
