This recording was conducted in the Talley Student Union on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the NCSU GLBT Center’s 2017 Lavender Graduation. In the recording, Michael (Mika) Murphy (‘19) discusses: identifying as part of the GLBT community and the Physics community on campus; finding the GBLT Center through the GLBT Symposium as a freshman; meeting GLBT Center director Renee Wells; the GLBT Center as a safe space; academic challenges; defining intersectionality and its impact at NC State; describing the GLBT community at NC State; gratitude for the GLBT Center staff; desire to see more collaboration and partnerships between student organizations in the future, and to see NC State develop a stronger culture of intersectionality.
