Summer 2025 closure

The D. H. Hill Jr. Library will be closed beginning on Monday, May 5, 2025, for planned electrical work. The Special Collections Research Center is located in Hill Library, and will be closed for all appointments during this period. Special Collections can only make appointment requests until April 25th and after August 3, 2025. During the closure, Special Collections staff will be available to answer questions about our collections, if they are accessible, and to support researchers using digital materials for their research. This recording was conducted in the Military and Veteran Resource Center in Witherspoon Student Center on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, as part of the “Our State, Our Voice” Veterans Story Project. Marc Mathews discusses his experiences serving as a nuclear, biological, chemical (NBC) defense specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1999-2003; being on active duty during the attacks on September 11, 2001; and earning three degrees from NC State, including a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, M.S. in Textiles Engineering, and at the time of recording, working toward a Ph.D. in Fiber & Polymer Science.
