This recording was conducted in the Military and Veteran Resource Center in Witherspoon Student Center on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, as part of the “Our State, Our Voice” Veterans Story Project. Marc Mathews discusses his experiences serving as a nuclear, biological, chemical (NBC) defense specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1999-2003; being on active duty during the attacks on September 11, 2001; and earning three degrees from NC State, including a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, M.S. in Textiles Engineering, and at the time of recording, working toward a Ph.D. in Fiber & Polymer Science.
