This recording was conducted in the African American Cultural Center Gallery in the Witherspoon Student Center on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the opening reception of the "Politics of Black Hair" exhibit, curated by Angela Gay of the NCSU Women’s Center. Verlissa Mason and Kelli Wilhelm discuss the cultural implications of African American hair, hair as personal expression, the importance of boundaries and respect regarding hair, and appreciation for the “Politics of Black Hair” exhibit.
