Description:

This recording was conducted in the Talley Student Union on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, at NCSU’s EKTAA (South Asian Student Association) 2017 Oak City Revolution dance competition. In the recording, Atif Mahmood (‘19), Richa Bhatt (‘18), and Nafisa Shaikh (‘18) discuss: being members of Wolf de Nakhre, the premier Bhangra dance team at NC State, performing a hybrid dance style based on a style of dance originating in the Punjab region of North India; excitement for their first time dancing in OCR; seeing OCR grow in its second year with teams coming from all over the United States, including as far as California; seeing other styles of South Asian dance teams form at NC State; and creating greater visibility for the South Asian community at NC State.
