- Title:
- Wolf Tales Recording with Shawn Fredericks: Black Bodies Exhibit, 11 February 2019
- Description:
- This recording was conducted as part of the Women's Center's “Politicalization and Sexualization of Black Bodies” exhibit, February 2019 in Witherspoon Student Center. Shawn Fredericks speaks as an author of one of the exhibit pieces, and addresses narratives around black masculinity, toxic masculinity, and women of color. He speaks about his experience growing up with a mother of Indian descent and an African American father, and harmful comments and stereotypes about hair that he experienced growing up. Fredericks notes that he writes for the Nubian Message and previously wrote for the Technician, and seeks to use journalism in the interest of social justice issues on campus.
