- Title:
- Fifth Year Results of 1968 Five Level Phosphate Study on P-Deficient Clay Soils, 1974 (Charlottesville Research Center Research Report No. 54)
- Description:
- At the end of five growing seasons there is no difference in growth due to the broadcast application of 25, 50, 100, and 200 pounds per acre (lbs./A) of phosphorus (P) that was disked in following application. Soil analysis using the North Carolina extraction method was a poor indicator of available P in the soil. Foliar analysis of the loblolly needles showed the trees to have adequate P in all the plots at the end of the first, second, and third year after fertilization. Fertilization was shown to further enrich the loblolly pine on the fertilized plots.
