Title:
Fifth-Year Results from the Fertilization of 20-Year Age Class Loblolly Pine Plantations on the Parkersburg District of West Virginia Woodlands (Information Sheet No. WV-70)
Description:
Research has identified cold-hardy sources of loblolly pine that can produce from 46 to 400% more total cubic foot volume than Virginia pine on the Parkersburg District of West Virginia Woodlands. Fertilization of loblolly plantations has proven beneficial on other Company Woodlands. However, fertilization research conducted on the Parkersburg District in Virginia pine and young (ages one and seven) loblolly plantations has found no significant growth responses due to fertilization. The purpose of the study reported here was to determine the effect of different rates of nitrogen fertilization in combination with supplemental phosphorous upon a 20-year age class loblolly pine plantation in the Parkersburg District.
