Title:: Nitrogen Fertilization of Precommercial Pine Plantations (North Carolina State Forest Fertilization Cooperative) (Second Region Study) (Information Sheet No. SC-2)
Description:: Two 5-year-old pine plantations were treated with nitrogen at 50, 100, and 200 lbs. per acre and with nitrogen plus phosphorus at 100 and 50 lbs. per acre respectively. The best treatment on both sites was N-200 which produced increases of 225 and 306 cu. ft. per acre over the Checks. The effects of the fertilizer peaked when the stands reached full crown closure. Neither height growth nor fusiform infection rate was affected by the fertilizer.
