Title:
Nitrogen and Phosphorus Application and Application of a Complete Fertilizer at Time of Planting Loblolly Pine in the Virginia Piedmont (Technical Memorandum TM-89-13)
Description:
Two separate studies are reported. One study investigated pre-plant applications of nitrogen and phosphorus by themselves and in some combinations, and a second study investigated the effects of a complete fertilizer of NPK. In the first study, the pre-plant application of nitrogen (rates of 0, 32, and 50 lbs N/acre) produced a weak response in height at ages 1, 2, and 3; there was no statistical difference between age 5 heights of the fertilized and unfertilized trees. Phosphorus (rates of 0, 58, and 90 lbs P/acre) did not produce a response. In the second study, rates of 50-50-50 and 100-50-50 lbs NPK/acre did not produce a response.
