Title:
Five-year Growth Response of Loblolly Pine to Mora Treefeed Fertilizer Pellets (Winnsboro Research Center, Research Report No. 19)
Description:
Mora Treefeed pellets containing slowly available fertilizer have been tested in the South Carolina Piedmont and Sandhills for five years on loblolly pine. The fertilizer was applied in the dibble hole when the seedling was planted. Multiple Latin Square design was used for the study. After five years a favorable response is still evident in the Sandhills tests on a soil with low inherent nutrient levels and a pH of 5.2. On a Piedmont soil with medium to high nutrient levels and a pH of 5.8, no significant response has been recorded in any year. To locate Company lands where a response to pellet fertilizer would be most likely, it is necessary to determine soil nutrition and pH levels.
