Title:
Nitrogen Effects on Sapling-Size Loblolly Pine Two Year Results (Research Report No. 158)
Description:
A vigorous seven-year old loblolly plantation on an Orangeburg loamy and was treated with ammonium nitrate in April 1970 at rates of 0, 25, 50, and 100 lbs. N/acre. After 2-growing seasons statistically significant increases in average DBH and basal area were noted. Greater and significant changes were produced by the higher rates than the lower nitrogen rates. There was no significant increase in cubic foot volume by treatments, although a trend favoring the higher rates of N is apparent.
