Title:
Potassium Rates Study with Loblolly Pine in the Greenhouse (Summerville Land Management Research Center, Research Report No. 44)
Description:
Loblolly seedlings were grown in the greenhouse at the Summerville Research Center for 42 weeks to study the effect of applied potassium on growth. Soils with an acid pH tended to show a positive seedling response in yield to a moderate level of K (100 lbs./acre), but higher potassium rates (200 and 400 lbs./acre) resulted in no growth response. Soils with a neutral or alkaline reaction gave no yield response, but seedlings increased in mortality with increased potassium. Potassium recovery from the soil was proportional to input.
