Title:
Intensive Sampling to Determine Variation in Soil Phosphorus (South Carolina Research Center, Research Report No. 15)
Description:
Twenty soil samples were collected from each of five Coastal Plain soil sample blocks. The results of the laboratory analysis were used to determine the variation of the soil phosphorus (P) and the number of samples needed to accurately estimate the soil phosphorus mean within prescribed limits. It was found that variation increased as the level of soil P increased. The largest number of soil samples was needed when the soil-P level approached eight pounds per acre (9 kg/ha).
