Title:
Two-Year Response of Loblolly Pine to Fertilizer and Thinning (South Carolina Research Center, Research Report No. 3)
Description:
Two year increases in average DBH and basal area per acre of a 1961 loblolly plantation with fertilizer and fertilizer x thinning treatments are statistically significant. Increase of average DBH for the fertilizer x thinning treatment was significantly higher (1% level) than either the check, fertilized, or thinned-only treatments. Basal area increase of the fertilizer x thinning treatment was significantly higher (5% level) than the thinning-alone treatment. Percent stocking increases for the fertilizer x thinning and fertilizer-only treatments were larger but not significantly different from the check and thin-only treatments.
