Title:
Three Year Results of the 1973 Application of N and P at Planting Study (South Carolina Research Center, Research Report No. 2)
Description:
After 3 years pm two Coastal Plain soils P and NP fertilizers produced significant height increases in loblolly pine. The height response to P was 54% and to NP 111% greater than Check on a Coxville soil. On a puddled, compacted, Craven soil the height response to P was 39% greater than Check while the NP treatment was shorter than Check. Two treatments where the fertilizers were applied some time after the seedlings were planted show good height growth and satisfactory survival and were recommended to Southern Woodlands for pilot testing. Fertilizer prescriptions must be made for specific soil conditions to obtain the greatest response with the proper fertilizer treatment.
